Day Lodge (673m) - Level access to Level 1, Visitor Information and retail outlet. Ramped access to Level 2, T-Bar Cafe and toilets. Assitance can be arranged through Visitor Information Team.

Ptarmigan Centre (1097m) - Mountain Exhibition, Viewing Terrrace, Panoramic Restaurant and Shop can be reached only by Funicular Railway (1.9km) Lift Access to all areas of building.

Funicular Railway - Access to train platforms by lift. Carriages are adapted to take two wheelchair users. Wheelchair users are asked to pre-book their visit by at least 24 hours and their use of the railway will be supported by Visitor Services Information Team.

TOILETS: Suitable for wheelchair users at Base Station, Day Lodge and Ptarmigan buildings

WINTER ACCESS: All enquiries relating to the use of the Funicular should be directed to the Uphill Ski Club

ACCESS: All buildings wheelchair accessible. Ramp available to Black House. Special entrance to MacRobert House.

TOILETS: "Portaloo" with ramp. Awkward entry for some wheelchair users. Summer only. Unisex toilet, suitable for wheelchairs.

HIGHLAND FOLK MUSEUM

LOCATION: 21/2 miles South of Kingussie on A86, on outskirts of Newtonmore

PARKING: Large compacted grit car park.

ACCESS: Level entry to reception and video area. Induction loop. Ramp to cafe and toilet. Some path gradients may be difficult for wheelchairs. Adapted bus with lift can take 2 wheelchair users to view site.

TOILETS: Unisex, suitable for wheelchairs

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION: Large open-air museum site (extending for 1 mile) with foot-path to reach all areas. 2 period buses provide continuous transport throughout the site. Arrangements can be made for wheelchair users to enter the crofting township (situated on a small hill) by a alternative entrance if necessary.

HIGHLAND WILDLIFE PARK

LOCATION: Off B9152, 5 miles North of Kingussie

PARKING: On firm grit, adjacent to main entrance. Main area is viewed from a car.

ACCESS: Visitors should make contact with staff at park entrance for advice on routes for wheelchairs. Some walk-through areas have RADAR signs indicating motor access allowed. Free audio guides available.

TOILETS: Suitable for wheelchairs.

LANDMARK

PARKING: On paved area by back entrance on request, or on grit (50m).

ACCESS : Easy wheelchair access to shop, exhibition and restaurant. Other heritage park facilities accessible with assistance, except tree-top trail, viewing tower and water coaster.

RSPB INSH MARSHES NATURE RESERVE

LOCATION: Circular drive, 15 miles from Kingussie to Kincraig via Insh (B970) and return (B9152)

PARKING: At intervals around reserve

ACCESS: Motor circuit only

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION: Using RSPB leaflet guide, drivers can have good views of 2000 acres of floodplain, wetland and open water from vantage points along the route, starting at Point 14 (Ruthven Barracks). Wildlife, beautiful scenery and historical features.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION: Please telephone in advance. Assistance normally available. One carriage adapted to accommodate up to 6 wheelchair users. ACCESS: Ramps provide wheelchair access to visitor centre, gift shop and most of the tour. Mashing and fermentation accessed by stairs with handrails and 'contrast nosing' is not accessible to wheelchair users but covered by video presentation

ACCESS: Roadside viewing point on grass and earth.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION: Demonstrations last approx 40 mins, taking place several times daily in summer season, or can be adapted to requirements.

CAIRNGORM SLED DOG CENTRE

LOCATION: Off the ski Road, 3 miles from Aviemore, plus 1 mile by forest track

PARKING: On dirt track and loose gravel.

ACCESS: No steps, but wheelchairs may need assistance to negotiate some areas when making summer-time visits and to see the dogs. For winter trips (from 2003/4) a specially designed seat will provide extra security for disabled participants

TOILETS: No disabled toilet. Nearest facilities in Glenmore, (3 miles).

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION: Summer visits to log shelter museum, video show and kennel tours by appointment only. For winter trips it is essential to discuss feasibility with good care at time of booking and it may be necessary to be lifted. Trips can extend to 2 hours over remote terrain at around 1000ft (300m) and weather conditions can be extreme. A unique adventurous experience. No snow needed
