CAIRNGORM MOUNTAIN RAILWAY

Ramped access to Level 2, T-Bar Cafe and toilets. Assitance can be arranged through Visitor Information Team. Ptarmigan Centre (1097m) - Mountain Exhibition, Viewing Terrrace, Panoramic Restaurant and Shop can be reached only by Funicular Railway (1.9km) Lift Access to all areas of building. Funicular Railway - Access to train platforms by lift. Carriages are adapted to take two wheelchair users. Wheelchair users are asked to pre-book their visit by at least 24 hours and their use of the railway will be supported by Visitor Services Information Team. Adapted bus with lift can take 2 wheelchair users to view site. TOILETS: Unisex, suitable for wheelchairs ADDITIONAL INFORMATION: Large open-air museum site (extending for 1 mile) with foot-path to reach all areas. 2 period buses provide continuous transport throughout the site. Arrangements can be made for wheelchair users to enter the crofting township (situated on a small hill) by a alternative entrance if necessary. |

CAIRNGORM SLED DOG CENTRE Glenmore (Tel: 07767 270526) LOCATION: Off the ski Road, 3 miles from Aviemore, plus 1 mile by forest track PARKING: On dirt track and loose gravel. ACCESS: No steps, but wheelchairs may need assistance to negotiate some areas when making summer-time visits and to see the dogs. For winter trips (from 2003/4) a specially designed seat will provide extra security for disabled participants TOILETS: No disabled toilet. Nearest facilities in Glenmore, (3 miles). ADDITIONAL INFORMATION: Summer visits to log shelter museum, video show and kennel tours by appointment only. For winter trips it is essential to discuss feasibility with good care at time of booking and it may be necessary to be lifted. Trips can extend to 2 hours over remote terrain at around 1000ft (300m) and weather conditions can be extreme. A unique adventurous experience. No snow needed |
