LOCATION: On ski road 1/2 mile past Glenmore.

PARKING: Disabled spaces at top end of firm grit car park.

ACCESS: 400m route specifically designed for wheelchair users.

TOILETS: No disabled toilets. Nearest disabled toilets at Glenmore Forest Park Visitor Centre (0.5 miles)

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION: Interpretive panels on Caledonian Forest vegetation. Picnic tables and viewpoint beside a mountain river.

AUCHGOURISH GARDENS, Boat of Garten (Tel: 01479 831464)

LOCATION: On B970, 3 miles S of Boat of Garten.

PARKING: On level ground.

ACCESS: Moderate to steep gradients and gravel paths limit access to users of powered chairs or 4-wheeled scooters with most areas negotiable with care.

TOILETS: Nearest public facilities in Boat of Garten

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION: Opened in 2001, this is a specialist botanic garden and arboretum under continuous construction, with accessibility variable and dependant upon development works. Opening hours are subject to weather.

BOAT OF GARTEN COMMUNITY GARDEN, Boat of Garten (Tel: 01479 831506)

LOCATION: Beside Steam Railway Station.

PARKING: On tarmac adjacent.

ACCESS: Level entry to smooth, gently sloping pathway to circular space. Handrails, seats and resting spaces for wheelchairs.

TOILETS: Nearest public toilet suitable for wheelchairs behind Village Hall 150m up main road.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION: Smallscale amphitheatre design with central pavings and lawn designed for performance or functions.

GLEBE PONDS and NATURE WALK, Kingussie (Tel: 01540 664505)

LOCATION: At N end of town near junction with A9.

PARKING: Use lay-by adjacent to entrance.

ACCESS: Graded ramp down to walk level. 1/2 mile circuit around ponds, partly on slatted timber walkway (1.5m wide) and partly on well compacted grit path. All with gentle gradients or level.

TOILETS: Nearest public disabled toilets (1 mile) at opposite end of town

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION: Picnic tables and seats provided. View of ponds with ducks and waterfowl.

JACK RICHMOND MEMORIAL WOODLAND, Newtonmore (Tel: 01540 673131/673322)

LOCATION: At end of Station Road, at S. end of village on Newtonmore's WIldcat Trail.

PARKING: On tarmac at railway station (25m)

ACCESS: 25m on firm stony track, then wide level firm grit paths with picnic tables designed for wheelchairs.

TOILETS: Nearest beside Village Hall (1mile)

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION: 2 acres of woodland and wildflower planting beside Inverness - Perth railway with superb mountain views.

KINGUSSIE PUBLIC GARDENS, Kingussie (Tel: 01540 661555)

LOCATION: At S end of village, between High Street and Spey Street

PARKING: At Ardvonie carpark behind Duke of Gordon Hotel (250m)

ACCESS: Ramped entrance from High Street. Level entrance from Spey Street. Paths designed for wheelchairs, wide and level

TOILETS: Nearest public disabled toilets at Ardvonie carpark

LOCH AN EILEIN FOREST TRAIL, By Inverdruie (Tel: 01479 812345)

LOCATION: Off B970, 2 miles S of Inverdruie

PARKING: Designated parking bays on firm gravel. £1/person

ACCESS: Level path with firm surface to information board, information centre, toilets and loch shore (200m)

TOILETS: Suitable for wheelchairs

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION: Information centre accessible to wheelchair users with assistance. Views of forest, mountains and island castle

LOCHSIDE TRAIL, Loch Morlich (Tel: 01479 861220)

LOCATION: At East end of Loch Morlich

PARKING: On firm grit at Glenmore Car Park

ACCESS: 1mile circular route (waymarked brown) graded and surfaced for wheelchairs

TOILETS: Nearest public disabled toilets opposite campsite, or at Glenmore Forest Park Visitor Centre, above main road (200m)

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION: Spectacular views from lochside and birdwatching opportunities from riverside

NETHYBRIDGE RIVERSIDE TRAIL, Nethybridge (Tel:01479 821565)

LOCATION: Off B970, in Dell Road starting at village community centre

PARKING: Adjacent, on tarmac. 2 disabled spaces

ACCESS: 'All Abilities Trail' (1km) starts across road. Firm grit surface, regular rest points, clear overhead tunnel and low gradients (one short stretch at 1:8). Return same way or by tarmac road

TOILETS: At Community Centre suitable for wheelchairs.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION: Birdwatching opportunities beside river. Surface can be muddy in wet weather

SUSTRANS (multi-user) CYCLE TRACKS, From Newtonmore: Alongside A86 to Kingussie 3 miles

PARKING: On street or laybys

ACCESS: Broad, dedicated tarmac track running from edge of Newtonmore (at Highland Folk Museum) to outskirts of Kingussie (near 30mph signs). Gradient is very gently downhill northbound apart from a short steep ascent to re-join the A86 at Kingussie

TOILETS: In Newtonmore and Kingussie

From Boat of Garten: Alongside road to Kinveachie junction of A95 and B9153 (11.5 miles)

PARKING: At lorry park at 30mph signs

ACCESS: Broad, dedicated tarmac track running from North West end of Boat of Garten. Some moderate and sustained gradients. Dropped kerbs at Desher School entrance at A95
